Our Story and Mission
Building a community where seniors live with dignity, comfort, and connection
Return HomeAbout Sirin
Sirin began in 2019 with a simple observation: many seniors in Chiang Mai were living alone, far from family, in homes that had become too large or difficult to maintain. While some needed medical care, others simply needed companionship, a safe environment, and the gentle rhythm of community life. We saw an opportunity to create something different — not a clinical facility, but a garden-centered home where people could continue to enjoy mornings, meals, and meaningful time with others.
The name Sirin comes from a figure in Thai and Southeast Asian tradition — a half-bird, half-human creature known for singing beautiful songs. To us, it represents the harmony between nature and human life, and the music that emerges when people come together in a caring space. Our grounds reflect this vision: terraces surrounded by flowering plants, shaded seating areas, and paths designed for comfortable walking. Birds visit the gardens each morning, and residents often gather to watch them over tea.
Our mission is straightforward. We aim to provide seniors with a living environment that honors their independence while offering support where needed. We believe that aging should not mean isolation or loss of choice. Each person who joins our community retains their individuality, their preferences, and their voice in how they spend their days. Our role is to create the structure, safety, and companionship that allows them to do so comfortably.
We focus on three core values: dignity, connection, and peace. Dignity means treating every resident as a whole person with a lifetime of experience and preferences. Connection refers to the relationships fostered within the community — between residents, between families and staff, and with the surrounding neighborhood. Peace is the atmosphere we cultivate: unhurried mornings, gentle activities, and spaces where quiet reflection is as valued as social interaction.
Since opening, we have served over 150 families, many of whom visit regularly and participate in community events. Our approach has always been to move at the pace that feels right for each family. There is no enrollment timeline, no pressure to decide quickly. We welcome visits, questions, and conversations, and we understand that choosing a living arrangement for a loved one is a deeply personal decision that requires time and trust.

Our Approach to Care and Quality
Person-Centered Care
Each resident has a personalized care plan developed in consultation with their family. We adapt to individual routines, preferences, and needs rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all schedule.
Safety and Well-Being
Our facility includes secure entry, 24-hour care staff, emergency call systems in all rooms, and regular health monitoring. Safety measures are designed to be unobtrusive and supportive.
Nutrition and Dining
Meals are prepared fresh daily using local ingredients. Dietary preferences and restrictions are accommodated, and residents may choose to dine communally or in private spaces.
Family Communication
Families receive regular updates on their loved one's well-being and are encouraged to participate in care planning. Monthly gatherings provide opportunities for connection and feedback.
Privacy and Dignity
Residents' personal information is kept confidential. Private and semi-private rooms allow for personal space, and staff are trained to respect boundaries and individual preferences at all times.
Healthcare Coordination
While Sirin is not a medical facility, we coordinate with local healthcare providers for routine checkups, medication management, and specialist visits as needed.
Our Values in Practice
Sirin was founded on the belief that seniors deserve living environments that combine comfort, companionship, and choice. Over the years, we have developed a care philosophy that centers on listening — to residents, to families, and to the rhythms of daily life that make each person feel at home.
We understand that moving to a community residence is a significant transition. That's why we prioritize transparency and open communication from the first visit onward. Families are welcome to ask any questions, tour the grounds multiple times, speak with current residents, and take whatever time they need to make their decision. Our staff are here to provide information and support, not to rush anyone into enrollment.
The garden setting is central to who we are. Studies have shown that access to nature supports mental and physical well-being, particularly for older adults. Our outdoor spaces are designed for comfort and accessibility, with shaded seating, raised garden beds for those who enjoy tending plants, and pathways that encourage gentle movement. Many residents spend their mornings on the terrace, and seasonal festivals often take place in the garden courtyard.
We also believe in the importance of meaningful activity. Our calendar includes tai chi classes, art sessions, reading groups, and bird-watching outings, but participation is always optional. Some residents prefer quiet mornings with a book, while others enjoy the social aspects of group activities. Both approaches are valued and supported.
Looking forward, our goal is to continue refining our approach based on feedback from residents and families. We hold monthly community assemblies where residents can share suggestions, propose new activities, or discuss concerns. This collaborative model ensures that Sirin remains a place shaped by the people who live here, not just by administrative decisions.
